Man CIOCC is organinsing the ride on Friday. Those who are interested to do one more ride before the auspicious Ramadhan, here are the details:

Date: August 21st 2009
Time: 10.30 PM
RV: Masjid Putrajaya
Route: To be decided
It's sad. Malaysian Sporting scenes are not quite the usual without any in-fightings, drama and all sort of feuds be it between players, coaches and especially managements.

I kind of wonder how some of these people holding high powered portfolios within clubs, confederation or committee are appointed. What are their virtues that landed them these decision making posts? Were they great sportsmen, corporate leaders, ex-senior government officers or well linked politicians?

It's never my intention to stereo-type specific individuals or organizations nor am I attacking or provoking anyone. But here is the reality, we suck in almost all sports. Football for instance can be considered as a national sports. But we're not there yet. We've had few good coaches recently, most notably Claude LeRoy who guided Cameroon to the World Cup. Still we are not at a competitive level to qualify for Asian region. I heard stories that Japan and Korea came here to Malaysia to learn how to run Professional Football the M-League and look at where they are now. If this is true then it's just another baffling issue that needs explanation. What went wrong actually?

Quite recently I was invited to become a member of a cycling "club". Not that I like to be one but because I'm just doing a favour for a friend. It was during a briefing by one of the secretary that I understood their dilemma. All the years of in-fighting, political camps and other "shitty" stuff going on have put the club's status at risk of being revoked by a sports governing body. That means no more funding from the municipals or National Sports Council.

It's obvious that most of the people who's holding these high-level portfolios were putting their personal needs first rather then looking at developing young talents and producing competitive cyclists. They don't really care if the 30 year-old club was going to have their status revoked or club rider's welfare were being "abandoned" and worst the club couldn't even send a decent cycling team to compete in local tours.

The way I see it, they just don't care... why should they?

If this is how the clubs are run, undoubtedly you can see the end of it. It is just a matter of time.

Sad....
I'm terribly sorry for the lack of reporting these past months.

The were few contributing factors that lead to this. The biggest one would be because of lack of cycling activities...duh! Well yeah the one thing that lead to that was my miss-configured knee.

A doctor suggested that I should wear knee guards to support the knees during rides. This reminded me of someone....

I knew this one dude that wears knee guards every time he rides. To be fair, there is nothing wrong with it but you can not deduct style and color combination on your cycling outfit bro! Otherwise you're going to break all the Makciks hearts' at the roti canai store when you walk in....

I had the design sent to Khairy and here is the scenario:

1. The vendor can do the jersey but not the pants

Suggestion: Alternative combo

1. We do the jersey
2. We use black "TREK" short cycling pants
3. The total cost is RM 280.

Takers please send in your order together with the juices. We do not entertain lip and saliva order, no sir we don't.

I'm getting one.

Route: Mantin via Lekas
Rider: Farizal, Zaha. Saipol & Faizol

Last Saturday was the 1st long ride (87KM) since I had one of my knee "miss-configured". Prior to that I just did a short Sg. Long ride.

I missed the previous Saturday's ride to Mantin with Zaha, Bob Batam, Bob's friend and Saipol due to an unfortunate incident when my rear wheel was practically torn by a nail. F**K the Bas***d who purposely planted them nails there just to make easy bucks. Low life scum!

I was pissed not only because I had to get me brand new tires but I had to cycle back home trough the Big Mac, Cheese Burger, the Fillet and finally Chicken Burger at 10KM/h... I nearly had my 10 fingers cramped holding on to the brake levers while descending the Big Mac. The usual descend speed here is up to 67KM/h.

Back to the Mantin Ride:

This time around we decided to skip the Pekan Mantin nasi lemak. So we rode via LEKAS and made a brief stop at Mantin Toll Plaza before we crossed the road and headed back to Kajang. It was an easy ride, cruising through the LEKAS highway at 28-30 KM/h. Good thing though the new Astana horse didn't try to make a break away. How about that huh?

While we were ascending the Beranang RnR hill, a group of 4 riders overtook us and darn they were fast. Hey, this was just what we needed to crank up... someone to tail gate. We managed to pursue the group and tail gated them up until the 5km mark to Mantin exit where they decided to slow down and waited for the rest of their group somewhere at the back. It was awesone, looking at them doing the short burst round robin up to the speed of 38KM/h...

We rested at the Mantin Plaza for about 20 minutes before we headed back to Kajang. This time around we had no problem with the head wind and the weather wasn't that bad either.

We bumped into 4 other riders ( 2 blokes and 2 ladies) who rode with the 1st group we met while on the way Mantin. I guessed they just decided to do the chicken loop after all. Not much of chat happened. We just said Hi, Hello, Good Morning and rode our way to Kajang.

We took another break at the Kajang bound Beranang RnR and indulged ourselves with "Lunch". Yes, it was lunch. The lauk tasted good and the masak lemak daging salai was the main event.

After the lunch, we headed straight back to Kajang. Farizal took the 1 st exit out to Bandar Baru Bangi while Zaha, Saipol and myself took the second exit, climbing the Big Mac. Zaha took the exit back to Semenyih while Saipol and I continued climbing the Big Mac and the rest of the burgers until Cheras Jaya.

Sufficing to say, set a side the cramped thigh at the Sg. Long Toll and blistering hot sun, it was an enjoyable ride.

Who wants to do Bukit Antu again?

About

Cycling Addicts is a blog mainly about cycling. My cycling posse consists of average folks who love cycling on weekends and public holidays. This is our ride journal.

We mostly do road rides in Kajang, Hulu Langat, Inter-state and Putrajaya.

This site is still work in progress. There's a lot to be done to enhance this site to give it a fresh new look and experience. So bear with me.

Mata-ne!
