Congratulations to Razi on his wedding last Sunday, May 8th 2011. Wishing you a wonderful journey as you build your new life together. It was a wonderful wedding ceremony. Even though the weather was super bright and hot but the event was blissful, rich with tradition.
I don't know If Razi or Zam was a fan of the Credit Agricole Pro Team or it was purely just coincidental, but the green and white wedding theme was just awesome. Luckily no "Geng Seluar Sendat" was spotted at the wedding. Hahaha It would have been a cracker if that actually happened.
Malay weddings are grand affairs where the couple is treated as royalty. The traditional wedding ceremony have two important parts. The first part is the akad nikah or marriage contract, is the legal and religious part of the wedding. The second part is the bersanding or enthronement, which is a family celebration. Distance relatives, close friends, colleagues and neighbours are invited to the kenduri or wedding feast.
The wedding preparation is often based on the gotong-royong (cooperation) among relatives, close friends and neighbours, for which the Malays are most well known for. Each guest will receive a bunga telur (egg flower), a decorated egg with a fabric flower, as a sign of gratitude and fertility.
For those who missed the wedding, below are some of the picture and video taken during the event.
Thank to Zam and Razi for the invitation and many many congratulations!

Video Part 1:
The arrival of the bride and groom was heralded by the "hadrah" troupe. This group, of mostly teenagers, will beat the kompang or hand drums and sing some verses and good wishes. The bride and groom was flanked by bunga manggar or palm blossoms carriers and a busload of relatives and friends. The best man and woman were on the couple's left and right sides holding ceremonial umbrella or fans.

Video Part 2:
The couple are considered royalty or "raja sehari" for the day, and so various royal customs are performed for them, including musicians playing court music and 'bodyguards' performing a display of a traditional Malay martial arts, the Pencak Silat.
