Pekan Sepang Pit-Stop...waiting for banana...

The prelude:

Finally it was ON ON! Honestly, I thought the ride wasn't going to happen. Since the last blog post, there were only 3 confirmations received. All sorts of things were flying on my mind and then on Friday, May 15th at around 5.00PM, through the ChatBox, we had 6 confirmations. Wow…what a relief.

This ride to Bagan Lalang would be my second time. I had mixed feeling about this route, love and hate it at the same time. Love it because it was a pretty nice route to Bagan Lalang, having a break near the sandy beach and no “Bukit Malang”. Hate it because you know you’re going to get "cooked up" on the way back. It’s going to be blistering HOT through the Palm Oil plantations from pekan Sepang through Salak and yes…the madness of De Palma hill.

Last week was a no weekend ride for me. I took the opportunity on the long weekend to visit my folks. Friday morning was not the best of time to hit the PLUS highway. True enough several unofficial report confirmed that the Damansara Toll and few miles ahead were packed with cars heading north. It was apparent that three lanes is not solving the congestion on the northbound PLUS highway. Maybe we need an alternative highway beside PLUS...but i digress...

Ride Poster: Bukit Puyuh's Waterfall

I had a good ride last weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday ride was pretty much a warm-up ride. Short distance in nature and a mix of low and high cadence intervals.

Different people might have different opinions on how one should ride but for me, right now, I'm on to low-cadence. I sorta want my legs to feel the strain and pain because the feeling is "good". Regardless, the point is, the one person that I'm challenging is myself not others.

These couple of weeks had been very "wet". Yesterday was no exception, it rained twice, both were monsoon class with monsoon clouds and to sum up, it was torrential rain.

The safe windows was actually from 7.ooam - 11.00am and that's about it.

Taking this into consideration, there weren't many ride options left except for Sungai Long. It normally takes 1 hour 15 minute to complete the route. Not inclusive of the "Roti Canai" session.

The PD ride
Interesting enough Bro Zack reminded me of the target list we set to do sometime last year. We did everything except the PD ride. The truth is, we never forgo the idea totally. From time to time we revised the plan to make it more achievable.

These are some of the drafted options for the ride:
  1. One Day Trip (Type A) :
Route: Old PD road via Lukut
    Start: As early as 6.45am
Return Ride: Yes (start at 4.00PM)

  2. Two Day Trip
    Route: Same route as No.1
    Challenges: Lodging, activities and F&B
Return Ride: Yes (7.00am next day)

  3. One Day Trip (Type B):
    Route: Same
Challenges: Transportation for both riders and bikes
    Return Ride: No
(We're actually thinking of leasing a 1 tonne truck and an MPV)
One thing for sure, the consensus is, "Damn, I am not riding back". Though I am pretty sure some of us are "adrenalin junkies" but we have to respect and take into consideration all opinions.

So let's open the floor for suggestions!

As discussed last week,

Attached is the Borang Kebenaran or Lesen Kebenaran Berkayuh to avoid "domestic problems". Just make sure you take note of the notes on the form.

Borang rosak tidak akan dilayan.

Please fill up and submit the form for this Sunday's ride to Kajang-Mantin-Lenggeng-Broga-Kajang.

HahahahahHAHA

Just like the title, what a week... and what "not so action packed" weekend rides

I totally missed out the week before. The truth to the mater... I was "marooned " to nanny jobs as the missus went outstation off to a "hunting trip" over the weekend. That limited my mobility to Sg Long route and area nearby the nest.

Genting Peres group photo

Route: Pekan Batu 18 - Genting Peres - Jln Sg. Tekali (Bukit Hantu) - Pekan Bt. 14 - Pekan Batu 18.
Distance: 49KM +-
RV: Pekan Batu 18
Roda Golek: 8.15am

The prologue:

There wasn't much excitement (Cycling) last weekend even tough Monday was a holiday. For me it's was primarily the gloomy condition most of the time except for Sunday.

Did a "baisa" Sungai Long on Saturday morning with Saipol and Shamsul (though the road was mostly wet). On Sunday Saipol and I cycled through Sungai Long in the afternoon, we skipped the morning ride due to "domestic" matters. We started at around 6.00PM and reached home at 7.15PM.

The afternoon ride was not that bad. Traffic was okay and the heat was bearable. It was a bit windy at Sg Long's peak but nothing like the Lekas Hell.

Funny outro though...

Geng,

Roda bergolek tepat 9.30 mlm.

Route: Tekala -Genting Peres-Tekala
Mileage: 40.9KM

Had a hard time waking up due to the Friday night ride. The PCM was a great ride. Over a 100 people joined the ride. Cikgu Sham, Romzi, Sham and me went for a nice supper at Precint Diplomatik after the ride. Reached home at around 2.15am.

Saturday Morning -Dawn actually

Got out of the house at 6.40am. Zaha was waiting at Semenyih Masjid. Reached there at 7.10am. Little that we knew that we had caused a lillte congestion at the corner, but what the heck, how would we had known that a massive trailer was going through that road.

About

Cycling Addicts is a blog mainly about cycling. My cycling posse consists of average folks who love cycling on weekends and public holidays. This is our ride journal.

We mostly do road rides in Kajang, Hulu Langat, Inter-state and Putrajaya.

This site is still work in progress. There's a lot to be done to enhance this site to give it a fresh new look and experience. So bear with me.

Mata-ne!
