Sunday Mantin Oct 16th Ride

So far we're on track with the Recovery Programme even though there are some tweaking and "creative" adjustment done during the tours.  We haven't done any rides so far to Bukit Antu or Genting Peres. Perhaps the gang could consider doing either one this month and the other on the next one. It's just something for you guys to think about.

The ride destination for Sunday was Pajam, a small town in Negri Sembilan. The town has the average elevation of 60 meters above the sea and located 39 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur.

Even though we were short of crew members, the ride was on and it did not dampened our spirits.  There were only four of us on this tour - Zam, Zack, Zaha and I. We had a good ride and a jolly good time, especially at the stall near Kampung Gebok where we had our break and meals, with exception of the dreadful headwinds.

Our journey from the Kajang toll to Pajam was generally good. The hovering clouds provided much needed protection from the rising sun.  It was more like an easy ride and we cycled at a very modest speed. The hardest part was fighting the headwind that seem so cruel as a persistent and overpowering wind that seems to be doing everything it can to push you back. We decided to play along in order to conserve energy for the journey back, which in my opinion was much more challenging.

We made a quick "bio-break" stop at the Pajam toll plaza RnR area before continuing our ride to Kg. Gebok. The route from the junction to the stall where we recharge was slightly hilly but  the road condition was not so bad. Lots of pebbles and road kills, mostly rats, on the roadsides.

The stall was located near the Kg. Gebok sign board and about 5 Km from the Toll Plaza.  It was nice an cozy with a quite an interesting setup. They served Nasi Lemak and freshly prepared traditional dishes. The only setback however was the small entrance to the stall. One could fall off his or her bike if not careful enough to menuever through it. In short, the pavement was not road bike friendly.

The Journey Back Through the Dragon Back
As expected, the journey back was challenging. The combination of headwind, rising temperature from the searing sun made it into an arduous journey.  As usual we drafted behind Zack and stayed in that position for as long as possible, even when he as cycling at 20 Km/h.

Zaha broke off from the small peloton and took the Semenyih exit. Zack and I cycled our way back through the Gaban Route: The Sungai Long's dragon back while Zam took the Chicken exit via Kajang Perdana.

Based on the cycling computers, my cycling distance was 74.59Km with total training time of 3h:12m:38s. Total Kilocalorie was 2606 with two skin tones.

Good ride guys.

Abayo.

@Joe: Good location, nice ride with moderate climbings but cruel headwinds.

This week plan is not confirmed yet, but the format sticks: Saturday-Sungai Long, Sunday-Long Distance (could be putrajaya big loop + sg. Merab)

Check it out here: http://cyclingaddicts.blogspot.com/2011/02/sungai-merab-rolling-hills-mission.html
